Talk about West Horsley Place

West Horsley Place was privately owned and occupied by Mary, Duchess of Roxburghe until her death in 2014. Much to his surprise, she left the property to her great-nephew Bamber Gascoigne (1935-2022).

Bamber and his wife Christina understood the historic and architectural significance of the manor house, but more than this, they felt it had a very special spirit of place. Their vision was that West Horsley Place should be conserved for the future and open for everyone to enjoy with culture, heritage and nature at its heart.

Images of West Horsley Place may appear familiar, as it is where the BBC series Ghosts is filmed.

Cream Tea - Certificate of Appreciation Awarded

On Wednesday 22nd February we held our monthly cream tea courtesy of George, Ewa and the team at The Plough in Effingham, Surrey where we presented George with our Certificate of Appreciation for all their generous support over the last year since we started the group. Members find it a very relaxing environment where we are able to share our experiences and stories in comfort whilst imbibing on homemade scones, jams and the thickest of cream.

Membership is free and open to anyone with a cancer experience or interest. We meet at varied times and venues to try and fit in with peoples' busy schedules so from social gatherings with occasional guest speakers to an evening at the bar we hope offer opportunities to share and support each other. For more information contact Chris (click on the link to email).

Old Barn Hall - Talk

This week (Wednesday 11th January 2023) the Cancer Chat Café met at The Old Barn Hall in Great Bookham and enjoyed a presentation by Nigel Lewis-Baker MBE of his investiture by our late Queen at Windsor Castle. This was a unique opportunity to see behind the scenes as well as a chance to see some of the private apartments not often open to the public. These meetings are free and require no booking so please join us there on the 2nd Wednesday or every month between 3-5pm.
